Never heard of or seen it around here so must have moved on fairly quickly I'd guess . There was a burgundy/maroonish colourded cut down clubman van around Lismore briefly but it's build quality was very rough .

G'Day Ian.

This one was a genuine....and very well done. I think it was bought by someone that owned a Motel up there. Dont know how long they kept it. The guy that rebuilt it has regretted selling it, but it sat in his garage and one year it did not come out from one rego inspection to the next so decided to sell it. His Mk1 S wasnt getting much more use either but kept that one

OK , I'll do some snooping and see what I can find out , be interesting to know where it went . I'm assuming it was kept under wraps most of the time it was here though . Then again , a lot of the local mini guy's don't know what I've got either , I was blackbanned by one of the run organisers because I corrected some of historical "facts" on a quiz on a run (no , they didn't make 530,000 mini's in australia and the moke wasn't designed here  ) .

There were aftermarket van (back seat) conversions done here, not sure who did em now, it was long ago.

I found this picture in an issue of the 1965 BMC Rosette. It doesn't say the company that did the conversion. A very unique Mini van.

The car was purchsed from McIntosh Car Sales, Mosman who organised for a local engineering firm to do the conversion copied from an English station wagon they had.
It had windows cut in to the rear, a special folding rear seat and a lower floor.

There were lots of companies that would do a rear seat conversion in a van. Some of these companies are still going. Look in the adverts in the Open Road magazine. It was not a rare thing at the time.

My first mini was a 68 mini van with rear seat conversion , it was Sutherland hospitals laundary car , the back seat was a really good conversion and when folded down the floor was completely flat it was only ever put up about 6 times in the 3 yrs I had it. I actually think that it worked better than the woodys back seat that I have now!

I stumbled across this website showing a pickup that was imported from the UK

There is a restored Austin Woody that I occasionally see in Launceston, and I believe it lives in the Beaconsfield area as part of a collection of classic British cars including a RR.

That one was featured in a Miniworld Magazine of Mini Magazine some time ago, it had 3 or 4 pages of fame !
