For those of you who are interested in the Green MKI Cooper S at the gold coast on Ebay at the moment. The engine numbur is stamped with 12Y/ prefix. We all know this is not the correct prefix for MKI s. I have looked at the car and the Block is DEFINATELY MKI Cooper S. How or why it has the 12Y prefix is a mystery!

But that one is a MK2 S isn't it?

If this is a mk1 S block, it is most probably a restamp for some reason. Is there a way to tell if a Block has ever been decked? Enough to remove the old numbers?
