I found this an issue of the 1965 BMC Rosette. Check out the list of extras he's installed on this 850.

Ian's made 'Mini' something extra
Mr Ian Cameron, 20 of Canberra, has fitted his Morris Sports 850 with enough intruments, his friends say, to land a manned spacecraft on the moon.

Lights
The car is fitted with warning lights for:
- Clutch oil down low.
- Brake oil down low.
- Reverse light on.
- Bonnet light on.
- Boot light on.
- Spotlight on.
- Fog lights' high beam on.
- Handbrake on.

In the 850 are switches for:
- Master battery switch.
- Burglar alarm.
- Three reverse lights.
- One back speaker, one front speaker on or without balance control for stereo effect, ans an extension speaker with microphone for public address.
- Twelve-volt terminal power supply with trip breaker; 240-volt power supply from 12-volt.
- Two interior lights, operable singly or together.
- A main switch to turn off dashboard, and a main fuse and a spare fuse.
- Traffic indicators on dashboard and on side door-pillars.
- Bonnet and boot lights.
- A spotlight.
- Two fog lamps, high and low beam.
- A meter light.
- Twin horns.

Other fittings to the Mini are:
- A compass.
- An 8000.r.p.m tachometer.
- A vacum meter.
- A temperature meter.
- Two electric clocks.
- A wind-up clock with alarm.
- A stop light indicator.
- Two speedometers, one with a trip meter.
- A thermometer.
- A calendar.
- Two seatbelts.
- Anti-mist back window.
- Remote gear change.
- Anti-glare sun visor.
- A first-aid kit.
- Two fire extinguishers.
- A bonnet lock.
- An anti-glare reverse mirror.
- Wood veneer lining in all four side - pockets; handles on all these pockets.
- Wire light-guards
- Mud flaps

This guy was either nuts or ahead of his time. :D

Wonder what ever happened to this car?? Maybe it burnt to the ground due to an electrical fire.

Nahh , he was probably too busy checking all his guages and ran into on-coming traffic ....

I'm glad he didn't own mine or there'd be a lot of holes drilled everywhere to mount all that .

Man , a poor 850 with a generator running that on top of all the extra lights etc

I know 850's aren't known for their performance but to say he needed two clocks , two speedo's and a calendar to calculate speed is a bit rude

Nahh , it looks like he's well prepared for the dark prince (maybe from previous experience )

Julie , any idea who own's the copyright on the BMC Rosette's ? Could be a nice little fund raiser for the MCC to reprint them into a book if you could do it legally , I know a lot of people would love to get their hands on a copy .

It was the 'in-house' news article for BMC  I'm not sure if it got distributed to the public though.

As far as I know it was only to dealers to keep them informed of what was going on but I'm not 100% sure , never seen one myself .

It was a monthly newspaper distributed to the staff at BMC nationwide.

They really are a great read - stories on Mini racing nationally and internationally, events and staff around the Zetland plant, new model releases (Mini Deluxe, Austin 1800 etc). They aslo covered all of BMC vehicles including all the heavy industry stuff.

Very well written and put together. All the ones I have are from 1965 and 1966. I'm sure there must be plenty of old BMC/Leyland staff members who have them stashed away.

I'll take a few pics of one so you can all see what they look like.

Imagine driving it at night with so many guages lit up , the windscreen would look like a mirror with so much interior light .

It's a mini, & if it's anything like mine, the gauge lights don't work!
