yea I was going to get some from a wreck, but it's not worth it. Klippan's are perfect, and not too expensive either. They come in all sizes and colours, but your local spares joint will be able to advise whats right for a Mini.

There's a reason why people are pointing you towards NEW seat belts...

It is illegal for seatbelts to be sold when second hand. I believe the seller can cop a $10,000 fine if caught. It doesnt matter what you intend to use it for either.... they can NOT be sold as a second hand item.

Buying a whole wrecked car with retractable seatbelts IS legal though

Klippan K1512. Comes with 300mm centre stalk.

<edit> these are listed for ALL Minis. If you use the stock mounting points there should be no legality problem.
I redrilled the reel's mount hole closer to the reel, so it misses the door pocket better. 8)

I've got some retractable ones I pulled out of the Gti. There is a requirement for three mount holes. One at the top. One for the Reel and one for the lapsash. I can only find two holes? Do I need to drill one?

Yep, sure is...I asked the question recently (when I bought a second hand Klipan out of a Mini). Perfect 'as new' condition, for $15

I tried to buy some seatbelts from a wreckers...

Me... "Hey mate, I'm after a couple seatbelts to use as tie-downs on a trailer"

Him... "Sorry, I cant sell em, I'll get a 10 grand fine"

Me.. "But they're not for a car.... its for my trailer, to hold rubbish down"

Him... "Sorry, I cant sell em, I'll get a 10 grand fine"

Its a wierd place, South Australia, we can drive totally stuffed cars on the roads, but we cant buy an old seatbelt for a tie-down.... Go figure.
