How would you tell the difference between an early deluxe shell and a mini minor shell.
I've been trying to work out for a while now what my shell really is.The body number is too low (1686) to be the 68 deluxe its registered as ( id plate says car no. 37232).
When I got it I found a covered over hole for a magic wand gearstick. It had a push button start and dry suspension. The ignition switch was dated as 12/65 whereas everything else is dated as late 67.
At the moment I'm thinking 66 minor but who knows what modifications previous owners might have done ( it had single leading shoe front brakes which doesn't really fit in)so is there anything else I should look for?

What else does the ID plate say , YMA2S1 is morris850 , YMA2S2 is mini deluxe , YMA2S3 is morris mini minor . What about original engine number on the plate ?

This is the problem .It looks like someone has just shifted everything they could from one shell into another, including the ID plate.I'm trying to id the shell out of curiousity as the number stamped on the body behind the master cyclinders don't match anywhere near the id plate.Id plate is YMA2S2 so the plate at least has come from a deluxe.
If its any further help the stamping on the radiator shroud looks to be M2 1173 with what looks to be a 4 under the M2.

I reckon you're on the money with it being a '66 mini minor - wait for Morrie 1100 to ID it ;)

the M2 - 4 is the key
