G'day,
Found this great site a couple of days ago and decided to join.
Currently own an 06 bini cooper s checkmate and love it to death.
First car was a '63 morris 850 ( at least i think it was a '63 - had the slide across windows and push button starter on the floor.) first brand new car I ever bought was a 76 leyland mini s.
I live in Brissy so will be going to the muster in august.
Are there any places in Qld like brickworx in SA that specialise in mini conversions/imports/ sales of older minis? - I am seriously thinking of buying an original but am not mechanically great and would like to know of any specialist mechanics preferably northside of Brissy.
Any info/advice greatfully accepted
I don't pm but would love to chat via email
Regards Mike

elo,

i personally hate the stickers on the checkmate, but you seem to have good taste in cars if you've owned minis!

i envy that you bought a mini brand new, what i would give to be able to do that :(

brickworx is good and can set you up with a late model jap import, which is a nice way to enjoy the classic mini.

Theirs a few guys in Brissy that specialise in minis. Here's a couple of the top of my head.
"mini pro" in Northgate,
"The mini man" he's on here.

I rang Matt Read out of the blue and introduced myself -- Even though I was disturbing his evening he was most accomadating and gave me heaps of usefull info,
He has just about talked me out of buying a rover mini and getting an original that has been well looked after/restored.
Thanks Matt and as promised I will look you up at the muster and say G'day.
You guys rock , will print out names of those attending muster and try and meet a few of you there.
I'll be in a black 06 Cooper S checkmate reg 14SKM but will probably park outside out of respect for a real mini show:)
PS. on a previous subject aof mini drivers waving to each other on the road, I have always found that it is more likely to get a "toot" from an original.
