Sounds pretty shitty, that battery does sound pretty flat...

I usually find that removing all you have done to get back to a working baseline helps.

Then it was never charged, unless you sat on the starter button for five minutes straight and discharged it...
Something may be draining the battery continuosly, check to see that everything is turned off when you leave the car
or
The alternator may not be charging (broken or accidentally disconnected)
or
the battery may be faulty.

Give it a boost overnight and then have another go, not likely but make sure all the battery connections are tight and the solenoid too.

did you disconnect the battery at all while doing this work? if so, did you put the terminals back on tight?

I just did this today.. went to start it.. click click click click.. checked the terminals, earth was loose, wiggled it down a little.. and voila.. click brummm!

as for your indicator stuck on.. nfi.. short somewhere! did you knock something with the indicator can while fiddling around the dash?

I would be looking at your earth points, perhaps the one behind your cluster

Even though it's new the battery could have a dead cell, try charging the battery & see if it starts it then. If you have a 3 gauge dash cluster why do you need a "monster tacho"???

Bad earths won't make the solenoid go click-click, it's grounded internally. Indicators are earthed in the engine bay on either side of the firewall cross member.

Still, for both independant faults to come up at once, I would still put my money on the battery simply being flat (or a bad battery connection). Next issue is to find out why.
