I should have said book! I am trying to track down what the best reference book/manual is for restoring minis. I have a MK 2 Cooper S and have the factory and Haynes manuals and a book by John Parnell called 'Original Mini Cooper and Cooper S - The Restorers Guide'.

Any tips out there in the cyber world?

There is another book by Lindsay Porter, called Mini Restoration Manual. It was very hard to track down but I now have a copy. :D
It is not specific for Coopers like his other one but tells you lots about Mini bodywork and mechanical restoration.

Its ID is Haynes H440.

which ever you decide to get I recommend getting a different type as well (eg if you decide on a haynes, get a copy of the BMC black book or similar as well)

They all have different pictures and explainations so if you can't work out one you can look up the other and it might all make sence

be careful with that one, don't take what it says as gospel..... the 1 page devoted to aussie S's doesn't do us justice, and our cars were a lot different to the UK ones

I found it on Amazon for 14 quid. Remarks re-UK vs. OZ Coopers noted, thanks for that.

I agree with benoz , get another manual as well so you can read the differences in doing things and decide what works best for you . The best I have found for us is the black Leyland Australian workshop manual as it at least has the stuff for our local cars and not just the UK ones .

Parnell's awesome knowlege and the amazingly well turned out cars really inspired me at the time it came out....a great book all the same, there was nothing like it previously..

Do you have any other details about the BMC black book?

Who published it or an exact title?

Thanks,

Henry
