I had a 45DCOE13 Weber restored and fitted to my S along with a short redline inlet manifold (ported by GR) along with Maniflow LCB's. Opted for the redline linkage kit. Had the outside of the inlet manifold and the LCB's ceramic coated (for longer life, heat reduction and looks (my opinion)) Choke cable is only connected because I haven't pulled it through yet but I want to keep the knob on the dash panel so will probably tuck it up over the heater. Posting the pics to show this can be done without any mods to the firewall. I know cutting the firewall to allow a longer manifold and ram stacks would add horsepower but I will let someone else cut their Cooper S to bits and besides this is a daily driver. It was tuned on a rolling road dyno but I don't have the HP printout yet. Work was done by Michael and Toby Tyler at Seaford who have done a few of these. I will keep the twin 1.25 SU's in a box to stay with the car. Exhaust is 1 3/4 inch with a side exit straight through muffler exhaust. This keeps the rear of the car standard looking. I have noticed an increase in HP and yes noise but I like it. Only picked the car up yesterday. I have a 123 ignition yet to go on with a new set of leads and coil. Eventually I will need to do a full engine (and car) rebuild and will add some more good bits then but for now this will add a bit more fun. I had an electronic conversion done to the Smiths 8000 RPM RVI type tacho so it will work with the 123 as well. (not cheap, this cost $209-!) The engine bay needs a good clean up so I haven't added picks showing the whole thing. Thanks to DrMini in Aus for advice with these changes. It is obscured by the fuel line in the first engine bay pic robbie, but they have the model and size stamped on a slightly raised "plate" at that point. That's the easiest way, but as meeni said, you can also measure the barrel also. DCOE (sidedraft) webers come in 40, 42,45, and 48mm that I am aware of (anyone else know of other DCOE sizes?).

I've spent the last two saturdays pulling webers apart, so I've seen enough of them for a while, but the flip side is I understand them better now.

I've wondered how much mucking around this would take without butchering anything,
there is something about mini's with Weber's, they just look right. It will be intersting to know how much of a difference it makes to performance and economy, looks good.

Noisy but nice. And with a 45 and LCB it's a sound worth listening to.

My Mk2 uses a Warneford inlet, Brownriggs and a NOS single box Lukey S muffler. It sounds as good if not better than any V8 and sooo much more music to the ears than any ricer.

What's your cam and engine bore capacity?
