I remember picking up a car seat we bought on ebay from a policeman a couple of years ago and when putting it into my Mini, expecting to get some smart arse comment he retold me a couple of stories when he had attended accidents with Mini's and he was of the opinion that they are some of the safest cars around.

That is a sad one, a lot worse than I thought  I'm amazed you were able to drive it away  .
What are your options with insurance claims?
and do you know why the mini in front hit their breaks?

If your keen you could always make a roadster  might crab a little though.

sad mate, but i think this is a lesson to all, Tyres are very important part of the car. I would think with better tyres the accident may have been avoided. everyone should check there tyres and replace them if damaged, worn or Hard(from age) You may be ok in dry weather but if it rains......

Umm yeah the mini in front of me braked because the car in front of it did. So i hit the brakes and becaue it was wet it started to slide out - then what was said before happened. It had Brigestones 165/70/10's that are only about 6 months old - but they are not the best in the rain.

Im also glad i was the only one in the car - my brothers had jumped in with two others cars so i was by my self

I thought it was a bit odd becaus the side you cant see is still perfect. When it rolled it must have misssed that bit. Mechanically the only damage i think was two tyres poped of the rim. Bent tie rod and i think posibly a bent steering arm/rod thing.

But it felt ok to drive for the 50 or kms i was drove.

Yeah im miniless for runners at the moment - i have one that i am restoring but that is ages and ages away till being done. My father has got one that is basically registerable but he has problems with his motor so im gunna pull his motor out and drop mine in, and register that.

I don't know how true it is but I heard a story of a mini that rolled once and it didn't touch the ground on the sides or the roof  they got out, had a look and just kept driving as if nothing had happened.
