Well....
The second digit refers to engine size. A = 800 to 999cc and G = 1000 to 1399cc.
The fifth digit refers to the model variant. 1 = Mini K, 2 = ?, 3 = ?, 4 = Cooper S , 5 = ?, 6 = Mini 1100 (poverty Clubman), 7 = Clubman, 8 = GT.
In my records (dodgy hand written notes and scribble) I have #3 as a poverty model and the #5 as a late Matic.

So I would say that it was a late Matic.

Yep it's a late (so called Mk2) Matic, I have a 3/70 one and had a 69 one as well, both are YA2S5.
