Yes In 1969 The column bracket was black and they changed the shape of the gear lever, also black AYG3086, this was an australian made lever

also the wipers park left not right and has the raised wiper scuttle panel. So late 68 early 69. Still a nice unrestored car. If someone sees my fathers old car at Muster can you take a photo and post it. It is an unrestored June 69 in Indigo blue. It was there last year too so someone may have some pics of it. Plates 69BMC. Had the carpet replaced in about 1980 and rebuilt the engine in late 80's. I also touched up one of the guards about 20 years ago. Sold it about a year ago because he never found time to drive it. For an unrestored car looks immaculate. (pampered life)

Just stumbled across this old thread with this great original car.

I just love seeing car's that are not afraid to "show their age" so to speak.

Anyhow it has prompted me to ask a couple of questions esp. as it is pretty close to my car (about 200 apart) and same colour.

1. Where were the original horns mounted on late 68 Cooper S, mine is mounted on the inner guard panel just below the front of the booster but I have seen others bolted to the bonnet close panel.

2. When (car number??) did they stop using the chrome steering column bracket?

3. By late 68/69 did the trim on the door and window seals match the upholstery or were they all black regardless.

Cheers

Good to see my 68 build MK1 isn't the only one without the water based transfer on the air cleaner box.
