stumbled apon this.... the 'autofour' was the production version of the 'roadog', built by "Wild Bill" Gelbke in 1965, who was (justifiably) shot by police in 1978

Yes , an auto from the US version of the morris 1300 auto (or 1100 auto , not up on the Austin America....) . Simon , it all fits for what you expect for a gaudy Yank chopper , would look better without the cheap heat sink looking rear and lights and also a rounded tank .

Austin America was 1275 - mostly auto's although a few manuals crept in

some of the cars even had aircon!

According to a MiniWorld magazine a few years ago, late Australian Mini Clubmans also had air con - this error was corrected the following issue when they realised the pipes were for the pollution control and the heater. :P

Big for the big backsides that have to sit on it....and heavy to support them too...

I'm sure that one of my BMC service manuals actually has something in it about airconditioning in it...will look when home tonight...

I hate to think how much power it would sap though

I was right...and not imagining it...there is reference to airconditioning, how it works, repair etc in the Morris 1100 factory manual that I have...

This bike was in an AMCN I remember about 12 years ago, they had a big write up on it. He would cross america on a whim and was quite a legend for his endurance. The bike was never easy to drive and had a turning circle which included Iowa and Illinois.
