Any factory produced 1275s have drums only?

Yes. Commercial vehicles only (some mokes & I believe some vans)

No van ever came with a 1275 from the factory.

Some mokes did have drums with the 1275. Minis aren't mokes, so you really need the 7.5" discs.

I have danced this dance with QLD Transport, they don't need a blue plate, it is fitting factory option brakes and motor combo. (from the cooper s 'option'.

That's how the QLD T see it.

You could try the drums and 'get away' with a safety cert and register the car, but if ever written off, the insurance assessors will find it and you will be classed as driving an unroadworthy vehicle, and have your insurance cover voided.

This is a known mod the insurance assessors look for.

I have seen 2 very late 1978 mini sedans (one owner at that stage and brakes not changed) with original paperwork showing the engine number being 1275 and only fitted with drum brakes but they were from right at the end of production . I haven't read or seen anything for sure but it was assumed there were a few like it that were just put together with availible parts and sold off right at the end of Leyland . These are moot points with rego authorities though as they are undocumented freak's so to speak .
