Just changed mine on Sat, KMX all the way...

Im in sales and you know what, Spaceboy is my new best friend... ill put the trademark brand stickers on a bottle of KMX for you and sell it at the price of Edge or stuff it, the price of Mobil 1 fully synthetic...

Are there oils better than KMX - YES! Absolutely - Value for money - NO, KMX is the best in that regard...

Its the excess that gets sold off at massive discount and in bulk, the KMX branded stuff is the excess (NOT leftovers, but excess) and its 6l and a KMX branded sticker...

I sell oils too, and I love selling the $99 and $110 4litre stuff when people dont take a recommendation for what their car + kms really wants.

Pete

what do you mean by excess? Do the bottlers run out of bottles half way through a batch? Or is there not enough room in the warehouse for extra bottles to be made up??

From what I am told and sold, its a budget thing. They only make a certain amount, batch, etc and there is always grades, additives etc. Stock thats allocated is sold to the stores that sell them, excess is made for order but is there... which is the extra that they sell as bulk and then other companies put in additives, etc and produce different oils or just re-brand them.

There is a bunch of marketing in oils (and the other car stuff)
Eg/ Recently had the option of using $40 'special stuff' to remove tree sap from paint... or had the option of boiling water + some acid free soap - $0.20 - did exactly the same thing...

SOME stuff, the rule you get what you pay for applies, in some it doesnt, and same goes for Oils aint Oils - sometimes, Oils are oils

I just love how bitchy some of these posts get. ITs like BMC version of "days of our lives"
incidently, I have used KMX, Castrol GTX and some cheap Caltex branded stuff. All seemed to do the same thing. They were all the same viscosity (or however you spell it) and all aimed at older engines. Go figure hey.

Dont think they came out of the factory on Unleaded mate - and I dont recall any leaded pumps indicating the octane rating in the 70s - try again.

Also, there's no point arguing it, stick what you want in there... use Fully synthetic really expensive race brand stuff...

Give it a rest, maybe learn a little too - jeez.

 Someone has obviously got the "blinkers on", one tracked mind, to hard to think out side the square, fed horse poo and told it was chocolate so goes back for more, etc, etc, so they are not going to accept other peoples points of views that are different to thiers .....sad really :!:

When it comes down to it, K-Mart wouldn't sell an inferior oil with their own brand and "suitable for Turbo applications" on it unless they wanted some big law suits from the turbo boys.

I'm with GR.

I used it for the first time last week in Pops and the old 1100 loves it! As others have said oil pressure is better, the valve gear is slightly quieter and the gearbox shifts smoother.
I am sold all the way with the KMX oil
