Over the last few days i've been working at GR's factory removing all the scrap metal & rubbish from his factory, on Thursday we lifted a sheet of iron up off the ground outside the factory and found 2 of the biggest funnel web spiders you have ever seen.

Naturally i wanted to squash them real good, but Graham intervened, and put them in a ice cream container so he could look & play with them, naturally the crankiest of the two escaped & is still on the run.

Then today we were digging more junk out & we came across a old cement mixer, GR in a blaze of glory decided that if we chop the top of the mixer and tow it behind my truck & pretend it's a roman chariot.

I laughed & laughed & called him mad.

Spending time with him is a pleasure.

Doogie (Not as mad as GR)

And you have only just discovered he's mad! I think it is all the Biscuits and tea he has consumed over the years, it has turn on the nonsense switch in his head.
Always a giggle to be had

Cheers
Aaron

I was going to offer to sweep up the swarf near his mill and lathe once. I thought I might offend him - he seems to like his junk!

I finally went to pick up my engine the other day. Dropped it off on Jan 3rd 2008 and GR agreed to have it back at Easter. Aaron was there and thought it would be more lke 12 months. Anyway after many visits it finally was ready in September 2008. When I went to get it I had a new Cooper S clutch to put on. After a half hour looking for the flywheel bolts I found them in a plastic bucket covered with newspaper. "Thats them" he said, "I knew I had them here somewhere".

I had planned a half hour to drop by get the engine, pay the bill and be on my way. 2 hours later I was till there, cups of tea, numerous discussions about KMX oil, running in procedure (Full noise, drive it like its stolen approach) and an invitation to call at any time if you need any help.

The only time I have previously experienced this was Bob Holden when he did a Lotus engine for me back in the 80's. I somehow think the mould is broken - these guys are few and far between and and call a spade a f*&^%n shovel!

regards

that's what the hole in the floor is for

I find that some of the best workshops around have that kind of feel, not just the car ones either.

I had this mental image of the 2 aforementioned spiders being thrown into the cement mixer - now that would have made them pretty cross!!!

I have yet to partake in a tea and biccy chat with GR - but have had the phone chat with him sipping a tea as he regaled me with the ins and outs of the RE13 and its derivatives.

Was a pleasure to behold...will drop in next time

Hooroo
