Bloody good!!

Kev and I fitted them to my car over the long weekend and what can i say..turn in is substantially improved as is body roll and weight transfer to the rear. Very impressive.

Installed on a Dry car, so had to drill and tap the rear trailing arms and move the brake line.

Did you have problems with the tyres rubbing on the arches when loaded up prior to fitting them?

BTW Vizard reckons you should tie the brake pipe down in its new position with a hose clamp around the arm. Did you do this as well?

In that pic the new bolt (5/16 UNF) hasn't been tightened yet.
Note both arms were FULL of grease!

Yes I did put a hoseclamp round the pipe, under the new brackets.
You just need to bend the body flange out about 45° with vicegrips so it doesn't cut the rubber.

IMO they not only reduce rear squat when accelerating, they add roll stiffness, similar to what a rear sway bar does, so turn-in is improved.
They transformed my hydro's handling when fitted years ago.

Yes I remember how good they were when I put them in awhile ago. Never occured to me that dry cars didn't have them...

No issues with rubbing, it's got hi-lo's in the rear as well but I just wanted to minimise the pitching to the rear when i plant it and Kev told me of the added benefit of better turn in and he's right, they are a massive change for minimal outlay. If anything they do make the car twitchy but i'm liking iit

So, in effect, this new rubber bump stop becomes your new suspension part? (on cornering, etc)

They are actually an Aeon rubber spring, so they are progressive- unlike the originals.
I think they are the same as on an MGB... so someone said.

It's good fun fitting the rubbers onto the brackets, a bit of dish soap is essential, maybe some expletives too.

Note- correct position is with the front of bracket about 5-1/4" forward of the frontmost brake drum mounting bolt.
Drilling the bolt hole on the car is fun too, lucky I have a right-angle GMC drill.

I run these on my hydro car, great now.. I run from and rears as I had a displacer go and these give you some insurance as they can hold the car up and not sit the tyres on the arches.

I ordered some of these last night

I will fit them once my motor and box is back together and see if it makes much difference on my Hydro car.

I had them on the front of my hydro car, they made it sit too high for good handling. OK for rallying I guess.

Does anyone know the difference between the standard bump stop rubbers in the kit (p/n AHH7074) and the Special Tuning (or MGB) bump stop rubbers (p/n AHH9158) available at minispares?
