Yeah 518 is fine, but I found it dearer than 515, and no better for this job.. :lol:

515 & 518 is excellent stuff as mentioned already. But an absolute ning nong to clean/remove from surfaces. Have recently used gasket remover spray and found that quite good in removing it.

I also like (and had good results) with Three Bond grey.

Got a 50ml tube of 518 today for $24 from Ripco. No 515 in stock and claimed they are both the same but 518 more versatile whatever that may mean :?

Those of you using the 515....are you meaning instead of gaskets, or to seal the gasket?

Generally, to seal the gasket.
However, as I said I have built gearboxes boxes with NO diff sidecover gaskets, this avoids having to add a pile of shims because the current gaskets are about 3x thicker than originals were. :x
515 and 518 are both made for metal to metal joints. Also used to seal outboard motor crankcase halves.
