OK.

So ive bought a moke (found it through the moke forum)

Its up at Tweed Heads and it is just stunning to look at! a 67 little wheeler and all! (great price too ;) )

Now due to uni exams and what not, i will not be able to pick it up until mid-late november (owner is fine with that!) it needs 4 new tyres and a new waterpump and thermo, minimal to no rust, just needs those few things and can get a blue slip (i hope!)

So ive been sitting here contemplating how to get it back to Sydney... i was thinking about getting it delivered (somehow? anyone got suggestions?) or alternatively doing the whole hog and making it a road trip! get the grandparents 4WD and trailer and make the day long trip to Tweed Heads,

Im pretty much asking peoples opinions on what i should do (ie. get it towed down here somehow, or do the road trip....) or if anyone else knows another way to get it back to Sydney? id love to hear your thoughts...

-Matt

Go on, do it the fun way. Pack your tool box and a water pump and buy a one way ticket on Mcaffertys up there. Then you can have the joy of driving her home.

I didnt think it was registered...

If it was me, I would get it trucked down somehow...

Chris Emmeline and Josh got a 3 tonne truck and picked up a moke a put it in the back when they got Spiro...

I am so jealous Matt, well done. Looks really nice

I say road trip!

I declared my desire to own a Moke to my wife last week and she asked why would I sell the mini. When I explained to her that it would be 'in addition to' rather than 'in place of' she just grunted!

Anyway, for me it has to wait until either I/We win the lottery or a good few months after my wife goes back to work next year after maternity leave.

I've been spending a little time every few days longingly looking at mokes online. Then I've been watching the run of Classic Bond movies on Fox Classics and been pining for the yellow mokes in Moonraker, Spy Who Loved Me and You Only Live Twice. I was overtaken by a yellow Land Rover today and all I could think of was "Wouldn't that be a nice colour to have a moke in?"

It might pass, a few months ago it was Mercedes 230/300 Station Wagons that were my search of choice...

Anyway, I digress, good one Matt, however you get it down here, good luck and hope you enjoy it :)

Very jealous of your Moke :D Nice score mate.

I drove our sprite from Melbourne to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road the day after I bought it. Also I drove my most current mini from Sydney to Adelaide and it has done Adelaide to Hay return and Adelaide to Melbourne since.

This isnt meant to sound rude but do you think you would be capable of fixing the minor issues that are bound to happen along the way? Pack some tools, zip ties, oil, water, fan belt, water pump, ipod and get road side assistance.

Dont rush the trip, check oil and water at every stop.

I say drive it! I love road trips and wouldnt hesitate to jump into any of my cars drive around the countryside.

Matt
