Hi John,
I don't believe NZ ever assembled Aussie pressed CKD Mini bodies, they were all English.

that's what he meant, just missing some punctuation

Thankyou Simon, I was Not suggesting that the CKD packs came from Australia

I failed Recess at School, So most other subjects presented an even bigger problem

Well, I was leaning towards monotone green again, and you all are convincing me that's the right way to go. Down the road a ways, though.

And what about an early shell that has a pair of round holes at each rear corner and a small straight 1/2" long slot at each of the front corners ????
All other indicators point to it being a '63 or earlier, it has 4/62 stamped into the wiper motor and the old rego label calls it a '61.
Any ideas ?

The thing is...how many of these different configurations are modifications ex-factory :?: How do you know for certain they came from the factory the way they are now :?: Just a thought

Early Australian built Minis Had This Exactly, Slots ( without scoop underneath ) At Front & Round Holes At Rear. I do not think your car would be a 1961 model I would Guess More Likely to be A 1963 Model, Depending on how many things have been changed over the years you can get an idea of its year model by checking the date stamps on all your electrics, like the starter motor Generator Distributor Fuse box Regulator. also the boot lock

I see, said the blind man, looks like the type of thing made by drilling the two holes, drilling out the meat in between than ramming a file down a few times.

Do they look like they have been punched out with a tool close up :?:

To Me it looks like it would have been put there when the roof panel was pressed out.

John..that's unlikely...the roof panel just drops into the orifice well before the gutter.

Its the front "Cant Panel" that forms the gutter and might have been stamped with that slot in early Australian production.

Looking At the three body shells I have ( with the slots at the front and holes at the rear) All roof Panels have a lip that sits on to the "Cant Panel" and then spot welded to same
As I said To Me it looks like it would have been put there when the roof panel was pressed out.
