had a rear lockup problem on the racetrack, this looks like a bias valve, but does it have the right brake cyls?

That is the brake limiting valve (not quite the same thing as a bias valve)

Can't tell which rear cylinders you have without taking off the drums.
I take it you have discs up front?

you should have 5/8" wheel cylinders

also be aware that the limitimg valve is not the same for all mini variants as they all have different shut-off pressures. What works on a Cooper S would not work correctly on an 850. How you tell the difference I don't know.

did you change the rear cylinders when you put discs on?

You pull them apart and compare the length of the spring found within. One is longer than the other by a fair margin. I think it's the disc type which is shorter from memory..

I did the wife's car, AFTER I had a big sideways braking moment on the F3 at 110KMH... :shock:

John is right, there are various valve settings-
850 early 250-300psi, late 450psi, van 450psi
998 Deluxe 370psi, late 390psi
Mini Minor early 450psi, late 390psi
998 MiniMatic, Moke & van 390psi
998 Cooper 450psi
997 Cooper early 250-300psi, later 450psi
1098 Mini 1100 saloon, van, BMC Moke, Clubman 390psi
1275S, Clubman GT 370psi
1275 Moke 390psi.

well its a 75 leyland mini with 7.5" discs on the front, spaced drums on the back..

it came with the discs on it, so i dont really know what has been done at the back

I'd put 5/8" S cylinders on the back like I did with our roundy (all Clubby S brake setup but S front discs).
You will have to drill new dowel holes in your backplates, Cooper S backplates had them in a different spot.
