Hey Sir Spamalot can you post the place that you had the new shoes rebonded at please

Also I believe that brake fade is mainly to do with the heat dissipation effectiveness as opposed to the material, but that said I'm sure a good lining compound also helps... I would have a chat to the blokes rebonding the shoes as to what compound is the best choice...
To be honest mate, I don't remember where I got it done. I am just about due for some newy's so it was a while ago. It is a local place up in Toowoomba here though

So somewhere in Brissy should be able to do it for you I would imagine.
In regard to brake fade. I can't tell the difference, they seem to fade at around the same time (as near as I can tell when using the brakes hard). I feel like there is negligable difference in fade.
The reason why my brakes are good for drums is all down to constant adjustment and super soft lining material. With that said I don't get really long out of them (maybe about 7,000 - 10,000 miles if I'm lucky). In 1,500 miles or so I need new drums (as I have machined mine out as far as they will go) so I figured I would buy some new shoes to go with them (start fresh).
TBH I think the super soft (or whatever compound it is) grips as well as the old asbestos pads (I still run asbestos pads in the rear). They grip as well but the asbestos pads don't leave brake dust everywhere
