^^^ Wot 'e said. Some people seem oblivious to the children's behaviour; my wife gets it most days in her cafe. Rest assured the child will grow up to be a little sh!t and be the bane of the mother's life.

id like to congratulate u ollie for being calm and controlling your anger.cause if it was me the mother would of thought the gods have turned on her. these god dam parents need to learn to teach there children manners and respect, and if they do something stupid like that it wont be tolerated by the public. if it was me not only would i gone off at her and embrassed her in the eye of the public but i would have also started banging on her head then asked her friend if she appreciated me doing that.. stories like this makes me scared to have a nice car in public not for the cars sake but for the person who did something to it's sake....

 . let me rephrase. when i said hit i didnt mean full blown hit in the head so shes knocked out. i mean tap on the head of annoyance. not to hit to cause harm but to tap to annoy and make a point

I personally still woudl consider that overstepping the line. You don't touch people you don't know (but then again maybe that's just me because I like personal space?)

I think you could start with a polite but firm instruction to cease and desist. This could be directed at the child, then at the parent.

Then escalate. Some loud words, aggressive tone and profanity as deemed appropriate :D

People today have so little respect for others, however i always believe in giving respect, hence why polite and firm first. once they ignore this it shows they are not respecting you, so their right to respect is void.

So have at it. Violence is so childish though. A last resort of the impotent.

I think you showed remarkable restraint.

Seems some parents think they aren't responsible for their kids.

Would've loved to have seen her face if you presented her with a bill for any damage. Most parents seem to think the schools will look after the upbringing and education. Parents are only responsible for making the little tykes.

I've told parents of badly behaved kids that their kids were a wonderful advertisement for contraception. You can actually see the penny drop if they're slow. They smile thinking they've had a compliment. Next thing, their face changes. Always goes down a treat!

You realise that by intervening Ollie you have effectively restricted the child's sense of self expression. That may have a severe impact on his upbringing and curtail his development and potential skills. Shame on you!
