OK, so I went and bought a very nice 850 and now I need tyres for the thing to get a roadworthy. I know there is the fact sheet on tyres but what would the wisdom in the room suggest? I am keeping the car standard so I won't need the sort of tyres that are on my Cooper S but still want something that will do the job very well. Is it OK to go slightyl;y wider rubber on the standard rims or am I being blonde again?

I use 145/70/10 khumo's on mine (they are around 15 years old and it hasn't been driven (much) on bitumin for close to 10 years) , they grip reasonably well and handle abuse well . Not sure how similar the current ones are compared to what I have but these are good enough for me (tyres outhandle the power and brakes ...) . 165's on standard rims can belly the sidewalls out a little bit and give a slightly wallowy feel but only very minor , an 850 without flairs looks best with 145's on

I would use kuhmo's or falken's.

I had Kuhmo Power stars on my 1275'd mini. They held up pretty well but not too much grip in the wet. When cornering hard they howl a little maybe its them warning you that you are right on the edge.

I have heard that the Falken product is of a similar standard for similar money.

yea i've used cumho sploodgestars, they're good for a bog mini

I drive my all original 65 Deluxe on 145/10 Falken - they were on the shelf at the time and were affordable. They work a treat for what i need them to do. They dont look too out of place. I am happy with the 'old car look'.

I will get crossply or crossply lookalikes later.
