Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has fitted Cobra classic seats on the cobra mini subrames?

I have found that they make the occupants sit quite high in the car, even on the lowest possible setting, and I am only average height. Has anyone else found this, and if so, is there an easy way to make them sit lower?

Thanks in advance.

I got the angle grinder yesterday and cut about 25mm (and 1 hole) off the front legs. I then put them back in, and used the top hole.
Feels great now... :D

Do you have a column lowering bracket? Thinking I might have to do away with this too to make getting in and out a bit easier...

I had already tried the seats using the top hole on the subframe legs, still a bit higher than I thought they would be.

Thanks for the advice.

Yes I have a column lowering bracket, but it's set at the top of the slotted adjustment.

Mine fit well, and i have the bracket, i have them on the middle hole, and they sit way lower than my original seats.

Which type of brackets are you using on the front of the box section?

its the thickness of the cushion that makes you sit high

I have cobra cubs - they are a bit thinner than the classics but at 190cm I sit pretty high too. To lower them you could both cut 1 or two holes off the front mounting bracket on the cobra frames AND remove the screw in adjustable feet from the rear of the frames (I found that even at the lowest adjustment the feet were still too high). Just screw them out leaving just the plastic bung behind.

BTW I found that whether with the little feet or without the rear legs were denting the floor pretty badly at the point of contact (I'm approx 95kg but I reckon any decent sized male would need some sort of a load spreading brackets under the carpet to protect the floor (I just use 2 100x100mm 4mm thick steel brackets at the points of contact by the bracket feet).

I'm going to weld a bit of 25mm SHS tube across the rear feet like I did with my Cobra Trophy seat frame.

My frames and seats are both different to the Doc's. My seat cushions appear to be the same height at the front as the ones in the pic, but there is no bum recess. They stay the same through to the back rest. The channels in the subframe have a taller cross section also, meaning that even at the lowest setting, the bottom of the seat is still about 70mm from the box section.

I did a comparison with the standard seats in my cooper s last night, and the front of both seats are the same height, the difference being that the new cobra seat cushions don't compress much under my weight (70kg), whereas I sink into the standard mini seats giving me a good driving height.
