Hi everyone,

I got three cans of engine enamel mixed up for me today to match the colour of my engine. Well atleast the colour it was before the rebuild as it was a perfect match.

I supplied them with a sample of the colour (My rocker cover) and it isnt even close to being correct or similar.

Has anyone found a colour by a major paint company that is close to the early 850 green? I dont have the cash to get more paint mixed up and just need to get the colour close enough.

Thanks
Matt

shouldn't they redo it for nothing since you supplied them with a sample and its not even close?

They should but I waited ages and need the paint asap, so getting it re-mixed is not really in my time frame I need the engine (that is yet to be built - I get the motor from the machine shop tomorrow) in the car by next friday evening at the latest :?

Anything would be closer than this.

Matt

Matt, i had some Austin engine paint mixed up at the local paint place off a sample that Greig Malure had, it's perfect take your rocker cover to a large paint place, they should be able to match it spot on.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

I took it to one of our biggest and most well renowned paint places in Adelaide. Im not going to mention any names though.

I will try a different place and see if I can get it closer.

A huge thanks to Steve.E,

Matt

I have used VHT Quick Coat Acrylic Enamel in Forest Green on my race motor. This is pretty close to the original. It is not rated as heat proof, but I have not had any trouble with peeling.

I have half a can spare if you are running short.

Some VHT Quick Coat Acrylic is now hi-temp rated, I bought gloss black last week for my wheels. :D
