so ive lined up a buyer in the UK with some kick ass wheels and tyres, he tried sending them by Royal Mail to no avail, they dont like tyres apparently?

so im stuck with this guy trying to offload these wheels and tyres to me, but cant send them... this makes me sad

Can anyone help me out with this?

surely someone on here has imported wheels and tyers from uk???
the guy who owns northern minis imports stuff all the time...and visits all the time too....maybe get advice from him..cant see why its so hard???sounds like the guy isent trying his best ...shipping costs would be high i would imagine?

As a price guide to freight, Huddersfield Spares (minispares-online.co.uk) charged about 170 pounds for a set airfreight (presumably the wheels had a seat each...) to New Zealand, which still made them cheaper than buying locally.

Yeah same ! I am ordering some diamond cut 12x5.5s in the UK and have been quoted 170 GBP to ship them to Sydney.

Are they after market ? If so, and international courer company like UPS will do it for you.

yeh ive tried all the big couriers...but they wont let me ship without a business account (im a stoodent )

so i was pretty much asking if anyone could help me out that way...

it would be a whole let easier to let go of the tyres (but i wont! they're A008's )

Just check what their problem is , it might be ok if you have the tyres taken off and sent seperately (mightn't like sending wheels with pressure in the tyres or something) , might cost more but at least you should be able to get them .

yeh i think i did a quote with them for 250 quid making it a grand total of 350 pound... thats $844AU... not the worlds greatest savings to be had there....

i heard someone use DHL express and cost 80 pounds... (thats with an account, and thats what im asking... if anyone has an account that allows personal imports, that they could help me out with this?)

u cant send inflated tyres and rims via airmail. they wont be allowed on planes. however u should be allowed to to send rims and tyres seperately though on the one run?. i remember watch air crash investigations about a scenario were someone put 8 inflated airplane tyres in a planes cargo hold and a fire started and apparentyl the air in the tyres cause the fire to be worse then it should of been plus they exploded and ripped through the cabin.

so probably find out matt if the rims and tyres are apart or already fitted?

My old job was as a Customs Classifier and i have never heard that rule. I could be wrong though

its more of a safety issue if anything. if a tyres blows out mid flight it can cause some much damage if no crash the plane. id find out matt
