Hi All
Have to go to Vicroads and do an engine number change. Any one done this recently and know if it a by appointment job or just take a number when you arrive?

It's by appointment job.
Had one early this year.
6 months prior to that, I took the car for rego.
Knocked back, saying I had to get a police clearance letter.
Armed with the letter, made an appointment, they had a look at the papers and the car (again!) then told me to get it stamped with a Police number.
Came back after re-stamp, they then had a look again, confirmed everything is correct then issued me the rego.

I know its a pain in the 'freckle' but give them a call and ask, i dont think (i could be mistaken) you have to get it inspected but make sure you have all the reciepts/paperwork as it will make life easier.

So I should try to find the receipt for the engine that I bought 5 years ago?
Are they likely to know it is a 1275? I have disks anyway and they are easy enough to see.

Had a new engine put in my Subaru. Needed an appointment with VicRoads (Oakleigh). They looked at the service record showing the (handwritten) new engine number, looked under the bonnet to see if the numbers matched and that was it. Took 10 minutes.

When I regoed my van the other day I was a bit worried because I didn't know anything about it's rego history and because it was imported from the UK maybe 20 odd years ago.
I rang up the local shire office (small town with no VicRoads, they are agents for them) at about 2pm to make an appointment for 3pm.
Rolled the van in, gave them the body and engine No. and was out in 15min.
They didn't even come out to check the car!!
It's all legit, it just makes it a whole lot easier when you personally know 90% your towns population!!

You were lucky!

They put me through the wringer with the Moke because I didn't have any previous rego history.
