OK, a silly, inane and maybe down right stupid question, but where do I get supplies of nuts, screws etc. for minis? I have spent too many years working on BMW's and have shiteloads of metric tools and nuts. Now that the mini bug has got me, I have replenished my AF tools but have no buckets, bins or boxes of handy nuts etc. Can anyone tell me how I can short cut and get some handy bits and pieces? And NO, I don't want to buy a donor. The Misses a.k.a. BOSS has been generous in indulging the 2 bricks so far so I don't want to push the edge of the envelope too far.
As always on this mini google site, am appreciative of any help.

You can get a bucket of random bolts from people like Mini King, ebay often has assortments of UNF nuts and bolts, or roll up to a bolt supplier and simply get a supply. As well as a number of important longer bolts I bought a box of two hundred 5/16 nuts to replace the crummy old ones as well as a box of spring and flat washers. Pretty cheap all up for piece of mind.

The bolt place I use is on the corner of Abecket and Queen Streets in the city, a shop or two down towards Spencer st direction. Minimum purchase 28 bucks, which can be a little bit hard to reach unless you are after whole boxes of nuts/bolts etc.

go to a nut shop. places like all fasteners should be able to help you out with all that sort of stuff, you can generally ask the guys at repco and mini service shops where to get supplies from and they shouold point you in the right direction for your area

Bunnings have UNF and UNC bolts and nuts, but only in the tiny overpriced packets of 1 to 6 individual bolts (the number in the packet is inversely proportional to size). They will get you out of a fix, but don't make for a good value purchase due to the high price per bolt.

UNC can be had off the shelf in bulk, but there is little need for UNC mostly, unless you are bolting up clutch housings, remote gear extension housings or similar.

I got a bag of these from this guy. There are 10 of each so not for a full rebuild but handy when you are missing one at that critial point of assembly

Get nuts here!
http://www.getsomenuts.tv/

Hehehe, kidding.
I actually got a bunch at my local Nuts and Bolts place - one near me is in Parramatta and they have EVERY nut and bolt you can imagine. There are kits but not sure if you want to just go grab exactly what you need - in whatever strength you require.

Thanks all. I will get some of those eBay goodies and check out the joint in the city. Very helpful.

yeah, don't believe the spin "lowest prices are just the beginning"

should be "slowest check-outs are just the ending"

A new Nepean Boltmaster shop opened near my place, I though "Oh goody, saves me going off to Lee Bros in Parramatta every time I need some bolts or nuts". :D :D

Walked in the door, and reality set in. Not much stock, all was Metric Metric Metric... :x
"You want UNF? Nobody wants them these days, I got nothing under 3/4" in UNF".
So off to Parramatta I went, all for 2 bolts....

Mate, if you want genuine nuts and bolts give John a ring at The Mini King (46481233), he has bucket loads of original nuts and bolts from the Leyland factory 8) .

Talk to Brian Pope at Link. I'm sure he will be only too pleased to sell you a bucket full of assorted Mini nuts, bolts screws etc.
