Hi,

In a ham-fisted moment I have managed to strip the thread in the subframe where the rear radius arm retaining bracket fits!

Fortunately I can get to the hole with a drill easily with the wheel removed.

Any idea what size thread I should drill and tap it to without major engineering? :roll:

Best fix is to Helicoil it back to the original size. 5/16 unf

Thanks, just ordered a 5/16 UNF Heli-Coil kit from Bursons. Probably a handy thing to have lying around.

A quick fic can be to drill out the hole and put a nut on the back, but only if it's one of those not in the box section! :lol:

You could also go up in bolt size, but that's a bit of a bodge!

Don't pick up the helicoil kit Brett!

I've got a bag of 5/16th unf helicoils and the thread tap to do the job (3/8th UNF is perfect for the 5/16th UNF helicoils, luckily the only standard tap that matches a UNF helicoil actually...). Having a tap for the job means you only need the helicoil inserts (very cheap) and not the kit anymore.

Got exams till next week, and am up to my frickn eyeballs is engineering shite (so am stuck over the books), but you are most welcome to come around and grab them anytime.

I tap them out to 3/8 UNC if stripped, and fit a starter bolt.
5/16" (ie the stripped hole) is near enough to the right tapping size without getting into letter drills. :wink:
