I guess you could maybe turn and mill or file them, but moulding is the way to go with big numbers.
The Repco ones don't have any locating edge on them. (Why would they? Once they are bolted up they can't turn.)
You could just knock them up on a lathe. :wink: But I agree that moulding them would be the best way.

did a search for K5-L4R unis, turns out they are used on lots of different cars TR4,5,6&7, stags, fiats, landrovers, vulvas etc so shouldn't be too hard to find

My limited experience with the nylon unis is this....

I used them on the Moke many years ago for about 6 months. They were great, as they didn't wear like the rubber ones and seemed to give a more direct feel to acceleration (though this may have been wishful tghinking on my part).

BUT......

Then I broke a driveshaft while up in the bush and had to change it. I had a spare drive shaft, but not a spare uni. When I unbolted the uni, the centre yolk fell out, which itself was not a problem. However, inside the nylon cup are a number of fine roller bearing pins, and a number of these tumbled out into the dust.

The next 2 HOURS! was spent searching in the dirt for the rollers (I still didn't find them all) then cleaning them and reassembling everything. Although there were two rollers short when reassembled, it lasted for me to get home.

The next week I binned the nylone unis and went back to Rubber, until the next gearbox rebuild, when I had inboard CVs (plunge joints) fitted.

Although while driving in the bush over the years I managed to destroy one Hardy Spicer steel uni and numeerous rubber unis, I have never (touch wood) had a problem with plunge joints.

My conclusion therefore is the nylon unis may be good for road use, but I wouldn't use them for off-road (simply for the frustration factor if you drop those nasty little pins).

A bloke on MiniMania forum has just fitted some TR4 unis (probably same as TR6), with machined steel caps.

I have made plastic [polyester petp] end caps to fit the cooper s uni's. These are slightly smaller than the uni used in the nylon type drives.
The nylon goes brittle after some time, and the ones that I have taken off all have some of the cups cracked.
The tooling up is easy to machine the caps and the next ones I do I might use commodore unis. They are alot cheaper and easier to get but with alum caps

Just throwing it out there, has anyone had problems with poor take up of the uni joint, when changing the pitch of the car? I am finding that as I leave my driveway, theres a loose, clicking/knocking coming for the diff area only on unstable surface and going uphill (i.e my driveway). I fitted the nylon uni joints, and suspect play in them.. can you get play in the flange/diff to cause this as well, or lateral play in the driveshafts? the rest of the suspension system has been redone. I'm running hydrolastic.

No one has had any issue with the uprated coupling setup?
