Now that I have seen your wheels, 10x5 LS contessas all the way baby! That's what I have, 2 sets actually...

You'll need offset drums for the rear and 7.5 inch brakes at the front. But the look is classy in my opinion.

Lots of the MMC boys have same setup for their original look minis. They throw on the steel wheels for original show look, and LS contessas for everyday driving

why not go for the best of both worlds! 10 inch wheels with flares, i am having 6 by 10 inch wheels with wood and picket arches, will look great! i know coz i seen em on a minimag car. nice if in your case u do em black as it will compliment the yellow!

now you say flares :)... okay spose it would look pretty tuff with flares.. what sized wheels are best (12")? and does it improve top speed? i stil have a while to decide. but this wil al depend on what look i want! too many choices

Top speed? Who cares......it's not how fast you go, it's how you go fast!

Your consideration for flares should encompass the look you're going for with your car OVERALL. I've seen some ridiculous looking minis with flares and without, due to the inappropriate use of bonnet stripes, paint colours, interior trim, etc. Work out what look you are trying to achieve and stick to it. Don't deviate.

I like the Innocenti (aka Mini Special) plastic flares, they just screw on, no body mods needed like with S flares. If you don't like, just take `em off & fill the holes in... :P
And if you break one, all 4 are available singly.

I have these on my rover mini (standard factory fitted) but I want to paint them the same color as the body.. they are kind of lumpy (tiny little bumps). Does anyone know if you can paint them easily?

Oh blimey! After reading this thread I'm even more confused about what i should do now  I have a roundie and I wanted flares, I much prefer the ones that are the same colour as the car. Now i guess I'll have to wait and see what looks the best when I'm at that stage..

i saw a picture of these caps and i loved them does any one kno what they are called? and a place that would sell them?

the cost for flares like like this.. its roughly a $100 bux cheapest sort and the real specy ones with out screws showing can cost up to $300 i think! so u kno what i would buy.
visit http://www.minispares.com/Shop.aspx?ccid=21 for more info they have tons of flares.

AFAIK 12's with 165/60 tyres have very similar overall diameter to 10's with 165/70 so your top speed / acceleration will be barely (if at all) changed
