Hi,

At last I have a sample of the heal mats I am haiving made.
The delay (and cost) has been in having the pattern made.
I should be able to pick them up next Monday.
Looking at selling them for $80 each plus P&P..
These are a reprodution based on a good original heal mat.
Good quality rubber, and dimensionally the same as the original.
Fantastic for a Clubman GT or Mk2 S restoration.

New mat next to original.

If anyone is thinking about buying one of Dave's heel mats but isn't sure of the quality. . .you don't need to be concerned in the least. They are superb!

Mine arrived today. . .unfortunately it's reminded me how much I have to do before our S is back on the road. . .

I assume the one's being sold on eBay are yours, Dave?? I bought one just a few minutes ago.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Carpet-Heal-Mat- ... 240%3A1318

I used eBay rather than via this forum because it's easy to pay and my delivery address details are all there.

Does anyone have exact dimensions on where it sits on the carpet? I assume it's sewn in place around the edges?

Note: The correct spelling is 'heel' (back part of foot), not 'heal' (make well). Come to think of it, since this is fixing a worn carpet perhaps 'heal' is the correct word. :?

These are the same heal mats as listed on ebay. I figure people may be more comfortable paying that way.

Got mine a few days ago.

These are awesome.

Well worth the money for an original resto, and 100x better than using a 40yr old one.

Highly recommended

Thanks Brenton

Re-starting an old post and sorry if the answer is elsewhere but...

I am looking to replace my carpets in my Mk2. Now i thought that they had the carpet inserts like this and rusty68 car. But i am confused about this 'changeover' period to another style of heal mat.

When did this changeover occur?? Which is the correct mat for a Mk2?

The repros above is the later heel mat, unsure if the change over came exactly at the same time as Mk2, but most likely.

I have used both of these repros. they age very nicely once stitched in.

I have seen late MK1's with the MK2 heel mats and early MK2's with a MK1 heel mat.
Because yours in a 1970 I would put the MK2/Clubman GT heel mat in your car.

This photo is of the 4th last MK1 S built. It has the MK2 heel pad.

Hi
If it helps with the change in heel mats.
My 1970 Mk 2 Cooper S body number 1946 had the Mk 1 heel mat, original carpets when purchased in 1988 in some what good order.

Hi,
Thought this might be of interest/help, from the mini experience issue 14 regards to mk2 Cooper S release and implementation of new Australian made components.

Seems either rubber heel mat will be correct period for early mk2 Cooper S, unless you had photo or report of exactly which carpet/heel mat was in your car when new you may not be able to have a clear answer unless late mk2 I guess, what ever classifies it as late mk2? Late 1970 maybe?

So YG2S4 1237 had a MK1 heel pad and YG2S4 1119 had a MK2 heel pad.
Maybe they had to get another shipment of MK1 heel pads in because of supply issues of the MK2 heel pads.

Thanks for all the good information.
Obviously there is no defining point in time or build number.
Both work up to mid to late-ish 1970.
I have sent the photos of both mats to the original owner of my car to see if he remembers...i will advise however still will not help everyone.
