gday, i was just wondering if it was possible to simply swap an automatic gearbox with a manual?

i think its oil galleries that dont line up?

its do able, have a look in teh how to section, doctor mini has done some!

certainly not imppossible, just not a straight swap

Dr Mini's how to refers to a 1275 engine, you wouldn't bother if it was a 998/1100

Doing a 998 or 1098 is the same process, except you don't need the oil pump spacer. On a smallbore block, the pump recess depth is the same whether manual or automatic. Not so on a 1275.:wink:

Yeah, it's not as though 998s or 1098s are scarce is it.
You bust one of these, just pull another out of the pile in the corner.. :lol:

Scrap men don't pay much for steel scrap now.
I was at Sainty Engineering this week, they said that where they used to get $600/ton for steel milling swarf, now they get zip. :cry:

i wouldnt bother converting one, as even 1275 manuals are not that hard to get.
