In this one the green B-pillar is again the 850 and is for sliding windows . The blue one is again the 1968 van with windup windows . You can see the differnt screw positions for the top door catch and also the different shape of the panel between the door catch and the door guide below it .

OK , having the photo's on the same page now it looks like the shell was originally fitted with sliding window doors making it an 850 (or possibly a 997 or 998 cooper as they were the only other mini in Aust with sliding windows , it's an Aust shell going by the drainage holes in the roof gutters ) . The numbers you've given would make it a late 1963 build/first registered 1964 if it was an 850 (and I think they are too high for a 997 or 998 cooper , someone else will confirm) so I'll say it started life as a 63/64 morris 850 .

I'm almost afraid to ask but what did you buy it as , as a cooper s replica or as a genuine cooper s ?

When you get your renewal papers you may be dissapointed to find the only number on them will be the engine number.

SA transport only bother with the Engine Number on old cars.

Thank's to John for mentioning the B pillar (which I'd forgotten  ), easier than looking under the carpet .

I remember someone actually blew up their office in Coffs once. I heard the bang from Park Beach.

Do you mean the original 850 engine number for the shell ? If so could you please tell me what it was as it should be right in the changeover between UK assembled engines and Australian assembled according to the list of 850's I have . If it's Australian assembled it should be around 8/Y/U/H 1600 and if it's UK asssembled it should be around 8AM/U/H/651500 .

EDIT> I had a brain fade last night and called the UK number Australian and vice versa , UK is the 8AM/U/H PREFIX , Australian is 8Y/U/H prefix .
