I have a set, you can buy them brand new from England! Aquajets

http://www.vintagetyres.com/display.asp ... 0&m=1&dc=4

I was the first with them when they relaunched them and fitted them to the mini, when I went on the first mini run, a few people came up to me, and told me off, saying they were only should be on show concorse cars, and not on a car driven on the road!! LOL I returned fire and said " yeah but they are black round and rubber, thats what they are for!! Ohh plus I can get more if i need any more!! " I told a few where I got them but a few of the real nutters I didn;t!!

Brett, sorry you may have misunderstood. I was talking about the Dunlop SP41's not the Aquajets.

no I don;t think you can get them, I did a search on the site and nothing sp41 came up. But aquajets look fairly close.

Can you still buy these tires? Anyone know where to get some used ones for display purposes?

I've got one of the originals that came with my Cooper... it's rooted, but I've got it :) (not for sale, just bragging)

I hope you don't mean aquajets look like SP41's - they're nothing alike, except that they're black and round

And neither hangs on, by current standards.
Way back (about) then, Michelin XAS was the one to have. 8)

I found one SP41, although it's perhaps a bit small ...

It says Dunlop Guardian on this side but apparently SP41 on the other.

I was a Michelin XAS fan. Great tyres. I once succumbed to the Aquajet hype and they only lasted 4000miles and were crap in the wet. Oh and crap in the dry! Th Michelins would last about 20000miles.

I reckon my dad used to have one of those - or someone I know - I remember it from when I was a kit

Dunno Doc...I had XAS on a Datto 1600 and found them a little sudden in their break-away and always bought ZX for Mini....they used to hang on for grim death...very, very confident pushing them anywhere  :D

I had XAS, ZX and also XZX. The latter were TERRIBLE.... :x
I found the XAS hung on best, a Mini is not a Datto...

I think a Datto is one of those cars that I was constantly overtaking in my Cooper S.
Back in the good old days prior to radar, and way before speed cameras.
