Maybe just get the tube but instead of welding screw it into the frame legs (where those adjustable plastic legs go (ie drill a hole on one face of the tube for the bolt to pass through and a hole large enough to clear the bolt head on the opposite face and screw the bolt in through the tube.

Nope, if I weld it this will stiffen the runners and make the seat more stable. Same as I did when I made the frame for my Cobra Trophy seat.
