sure this is great 'if' someone had the original car for it, 'if' it really is a cooper S engine maybe, maybe not..... but not likely i'm guessing on either account!

No it's not a Cooper S, just a common garden variety Morris 1100S (1275)by the look of it.
A bit rusty too..... or is that too rusty.
No way is it worth anywhere near that....

What an odd ad. An engine which you could fit to your Mini Cooper (He doesn't claim it's an engine from a Cooper). I'm guessing he knows this and is hoping there's a sucker out there for it.

Does the engine number (which looks dodgy to say the least) refer to it being a 1955 engine? I doubt this came out of a mini, let alone a Cooper.

It's from an early 1275 Moke according to my book.
Same really as M1100S, except engine no.

I can't be bothered getting all het up about people flogging off 'cooper' items. You should go into any endeavour with your eyes open and fully informed, and if you buy a cooperised vanilla mini and pay over the odds, more fool you. The most cursory of investigating with anyone who knows minis will tell you to watch out for fakes, so it's the old 'fool and his money' situation.

Don't get me wrong; I still think it's deceptive or misleading advertising, but there's only so much you can do to protect people from themselves. If someone pays $2,000 for this engine, good luck to them. As long as no-one tells them, they'll be happy and content. As will the seller, but it's not exactly the crime of the century.

Speaking of which, I highly recommend The Bank Job as a movie to watch.

Yes it's from the "export" model moke that originally came with drum brakes , mine had 1204/1275 for the engine number

He never claims it is a Cooper S engine. It just 'fits' one.

Looks like a boat anchor.
No pictures of the crankshaft and conrods, I suspect they are all very rusty also.

I just watched that the other day to, thought it was really good then realised at the end it was based on true events...!

On another note. That motor has been used as a boat anchor!

The black girl who crawls outta bed with the gangster, and then later sends the planted intelligence mole to her death by machete is a friend of mine :) Cos she said half a dozen words, she was allowed to eat the nibblies at the premier :)
