OMG, hope you get better soon. It must be quite a painful.

It just gave me a sudden thought about how much worse it could be if something ever bad happens on the race track.

I didn't expect pics while I was scrolling down, and it just sent big big shivers down my spine. Holy S...

I dont think I can eat meat for the next few days.

 Hope it heals quickly.

We've all done things we think bettter of later.....
luckily I've only a few small scars but a few "that was close" moments....

I once stopped to help some damsels in distress at the side of the road ....
and whilst going through checking fan belt etc - they decided to try and start the car...
was so lucky to get my hand away in time ...

I hear that with late Rovers you can also get your fingers in the alternator fan trying to
undo the bonnet safety catch due to the alternator being mounted so high up......
there is a safety shield but fingers slide under it when feeling around for the catch.....

hey Matt, hope you feel better and hope it all heals ok.

We all do things that in hindsight are not that smart. I really didn't expect people on here to be such pricks to you about this. Good luck

Doesn't look too bad , more importantly though how is it feeling and moving , any nerve or tendon damage becoming apparent (say's he who has very little feeling on the top of one finger after running the oxy torch across it after being distracted while shrinking spots on a suzuki's floor ....) ?

very lucky on that end of the candle actually (thankfully!) no tendon damage, i could actually see the nerve when the doc opened it up to clean it  still intact! most of the feeling is there, sota like having wax on your finger tips... movement is fine (bar the stitches killing every time you try to move :P
