Yes, learn from me doing it the hard way  I got there in the end though  Don't bash the cover to make the chain fit, you won't have a flat surface on the cover then and it WILL leak oil.

Well, the new chain and sprockets are all in place and looking good. When I had a good look at the timing cover, there's nothing to 'machine off'. Must be a newer cover or something slightly different. The piece of metal that Sir Spamalot had to use the old Dremmel on - at the edges because it looked originally like L profile - in my cover, that same piece of metal is completely flat.

It will be on the car in the morning and fingers crossed, will be fine. I'll let you know.

I've sort of dpubled up on the post here.

It's in and didn't scrape anywhere......but it's leaking oil. Looks like I damaged the cover when it was on the bench

When you put the new double row bottom sprocket on, there's no room for the dish shaped washer too as the cover just wont fit.

Oil was pouring out of the bottom of the chain cover - got to pull it apart now tomorrow and try a different cover.

There were 2 different design oil slingers (washers), the almost flat one is the one to use. The outer flange goes towards the chain, not the cover...
The real early 850 etc one is too wide, won't fit.
