Has anyone on the Forum got a BMC Mini tractor as in the latest ME mag? I have heard of one available and would like to know of any weaknesses and things to check for.

Regards
Al

No , but I want one , shame you're on the wrong side of the ditch ....

After reading the article in TME my father said there were a fair few sold in the local area in their day and they weren't too bad so long as you didn't try to do too much with them , not a super heavy duty tractor , think of it as more of a big ride on mower .

Me too!

There were a few sold in NZ but generally thought of as being too small to be useful. I seem to recall winter starting was a problem too but I think I still want one. I think I do ???

Was that the blue one with the mini engine/box mounted sideways and a driveshaft forwards and back to seperate diffs to make 4wd though ? If it's the one I was thinking of it's not an original .

Later ones were blue and named Leyland. The original ones were poppy red and about the same size, perhaps slightly smaller, as an old grey Fergy TEA.

Your correct John, HD has 2 BMC mini tractors and he loves them dearly, he uses one of them on his farm reguarly. I have had the pleasere of operating one of them and they are great! Henry has the workshop manual & parts cataloges and he also has some NOS pistons, they sat on the shelf at NMP for many years and i would on occasion open up the BMC box and have a look! I seriously doubt he will part with them, he is always on the lookout for more! Regards DW.
