ok i want to know what would cause overheating when timing is right no air in radiator which is cracked head no blown head gasket...... would just sitting a car idling make it overheat???? because i start it and slowly it creeps up to hot???? thanks a lot guys in advance

Just cause the gauge is reading hot does'nt mean the engine is hot, start the motor, let it get hot on the gauge, turn it off & squeeze the top radiator hose, if its rock hard the engine is hot, if you can squeeze the hose its not hot.

Is the thermostat actually opening

How old is the water pump? Is the impeller in reasonable condition?

Yeah take it out and put it in boiling water from the kettle.

If u start it and it creeps up to hot straight away then the gauge/sending unit is faulty...theres no way it can overheat in 10 seconds.

no it takes maybe 1 minute or a bit longer....

is there any other ways to check if there is a cracked head? there is no bubbles in the radiator and its not loosing water.

Take the thermostat out and boil it to see if it opens, or just buy a new one.

Buy a thermometer that reaches 100 degrees, op then radiator cap, pop it in and start the engine. see if "HOT" actually means hot or not.

Normal engine running temps should be about 93 degrees (from memory... don't quote me) and on my gauge that is 7/8 to H.

Check to make sure you have the right radiator cap. Long Neck clubman radiators need a long neck cap.

If your's is a plastic fan, I am pretty sure that there is only one way to install the fan...

Yeah is a plastic fan. I bought the cap and the radiator from Karcraft so I am sure is the right one, is not a clubman, is a round nose.
