Would the MOD who deleted my earlier post please PM me to explain why. I think it's a gross over-reaction to a sensible discussion about car security. Giving other Mini owners practical tips to protect their car far outweighs the possibility (highly unlikely in my view) of someone with an ulterior motive wandering through this forum so as to discover some new way to steal a Mini.

I don't think that crooks need lessons in how to pinch cars.
But Mini owners do need lessons in the different things to do that could make it harder to take a car.

Most of the Minis from this forum that have been stolen have only been protected by a locked door and an ignition switch.

It is better to tell people what is easily available than to let cars get stolen.

Maybe not really a security feature but I have been told that if you park with your front wheels turned to full lock and then put a steering wheel lock on that it will then be very difficult (impossible) to get onto a tow truck.

Will this work, or is there a way around it? (Short of jacking the car up)

The tow trucks are designed to be able to pick up a badly smashed car, full locked wheels on a Mini would be no problem.

But it would slow down an amateur trying to get it on a car trailer.

That's true, I didn't think about that...

Maybe just electrify the steering wheel

I ended up parking the mini in a vacant block and boxed it in! so they would have to move an BMW X5D and then the trailer ( Locked to the 4x4) to get to the mini, but didn;t stop a cig butt being on the bonnet when I got up one morning!
