Thx for the reply's everyone. Seeing as its not too hard to remove the glass i might just go without sealant when i put the new rubbers in. I can always re-do it if it does leak. My front windscreen just leaks like you wouldnt believe and i believe its between the body and the rubber, hence i'm curious about sealants.

But thx again for the reply's, hopefully ill have time to do it this weekend.

if you need help to do this (yes I know you are a mechanic!!) give me a yell. Matt and I did Cherry's a little while ago and i have a distinct talent for cleaning the glass apparently  (plus matt has a windscreen rubber tool i can borrow..shhh)

Ok so i got around to doing the front windscreen today, and what a job and a half that was. I spent over an hour trying to clean off the old sealant from the glass and the car, but i grew tired when i tried to clean it off the vynil(sp?) on the inside lip of the car so i just let that be.

Is there any difference in the front rubber and the back rubber? I'm talking about the genuine 1piece ones because i'm reasonably sure that i used the "front" one for the front. Just going by the packaging was different on the 2 because they were bought at different times. It all looks sweet but im just wondering if there is a difference.

Lastly with the chrome locking strip, i was expecting it to be too long, so that i could cut it with a little bit of overlap and jam it in there so if it shrinks it doesnt leave a gap. But the locking strip has nearly an inch of a gap without any cutting.

So if i fitted the rear rubber to the front it would be obvious/impossible? And if the locking strips are different length, dont some suppliers just advertise them as for both?

A rear rubber in the front would be something like a foot too short...
The chrome filler strips are usually longer than the front rubbers are, I'd say you got sold a dud.
