I am putting new sills on my Aussie Clubman and i there are these bolt holes at either end.

Can anyone tell me what they are for? I am thinking of cutting them off.

They were used to bolt the car to fixtures on the assembly line.
They serve no other purpose.

And they are a great source of rust as they are just sealed with a putty (butyl?) which breaks down over the years exposing the inside of the sills to moisture.
