No, the MPI's use a different filter. Trust me on this, I know. I was supplied the wrong one first up.

As far as I know, the MPI one is FIG7075 because that's the one that didn't fit. :roll:

If your '97 Mini was originally delivered in Japan chances are it's an SPI. I don't think they got MPI's.

the early MPi uses the same filter as the SPi. but with FIN WD169573 there is a differend one. they look the same but the early one uses M16 thread and the later one M14
