I was looking at fitting a second radiator in the heater system to assist with cooling.
This is in a round nose with a brake booster.
I assume it is a matter of finding the right heater core to do the job.
What is the best heater core, or otherwise to make for a tidy installation?
It needs to go under the bonnet in the picture, preferably with ½ inch outlets.
Or should the outlets be increased to make for better water flow and something easier to find?
I can change the booster to a VH44, and relocate the horn for more room.
Any ideas, photos, etc?

no real need to put a second radiator if your cooling system is in good condition.. just another thing you have to work around under the hood.. get an alloy radiator, whats the reason u want another rad.

I would just recondition or recore your old radiator. When clean, I find them as good or better than the UK super 2 core.
As for the cheap UK 3 cores, forget them- they are junk. Mine is hanging on the wall...
As for heater cores (if you must), a Clubby one works fine.

I have in my clubbie a rear floor heater form an Austin A125 Sheerline. 1/2 inch pipes and an inbuilt fan that is swicthed from the dash for when I sit in traffic and in our Nota we have a clubbie heater core mounted in the nose. That's prob. the reason why Dad crashed it coz the nose was to heavy !!!!

No problem with the current 1100 engines, but I am concerned if I go down the big block path with some HP.

May as well be me then... I fitted this extra little radiator to my LS..

No, it didn't overheat in the first place but this is just an extra bit of cooling help and as everyone knows, every little bit helps....

Seeing as your handy in the work shop and have twice as much heat or more to deal with, have you thought about installing a complete radiator on the drivers side.
This is something I've thought about and with a doner inner passenger panel it is possible to reform that and weld that into the drivers side, then all you need to do is modify the lower radiator mount and make a top stay bar and you have 2 radiators .

Other wise just mount a clubman heater matrix above the starter motor/flywheel area.

About 5 years ago there was a mini in the mini world mag that was running a 2nd oil cooler as a water cooler
he had it mounted under the front no plate...
I asked my local mini place about it and they said it would work...but only when the car was working.so same as a normal oil cooler..they also added any ability to increase they water volume would aid in cooling even if it was just a bit...
Ive seen these on a mini befour...


can get them of ebay for $100
and there round so they dont stick down too far
I was allays curious about this method???
any other comments about using this let me know as i was going to try it.

What is the radiator out off?
Can you supply the dimensions –width, breadth and height?

Indigo.. I bought it from a local radiator repairer and I think the radiator was from a motorbike.

The dimensions are:
H = 190mm .. W = 160mm .. B = 50mm

Does it have plastic tanks?

Its a standard Clubman heater core-mounted with Commodore VN airfilter mounts.Two ways that it helps with the cooling of the Mini.Increases cooling capacity by a couple of litres and front mounted for extra air low.

have you thought about plumbing the two motors together, and putting one BIIG radiator in the back, behind the rear motor with a couple of thermo fans? at Phillip Island on the weekend there was a mob selling very high volume electric water pumps, their demo setup was pumping shite loads of water

probably a lot of rejigging, dunno how much gain...

if you don't have cooling problems with your 1100's, I doubt there will be any significant increase in cooling required, maybe just run some longer radiator hoses just for extra volume!
