Aside from buying new pistons, you could get the machine shop to mill of the tops of the pistons for the right height...

Sure if you wanted a piston head that was paper thin....

There's not that much between them.. I've heard GR recommend it as a cheap way to get flat-tops.

You would have to take .146" (1/2 the stroke difference) off, that's a fair chunk. But it works with some pistons. Ask GR...

UPDATE UPDATE

MY ENGINE ISN'T A 998!!!!!!!

It's an 1100 or 1098 to be precise.

That happened to a lady up here, everyone thought it was a 998 going by the engine number but we were all amazed at how much power it had compared to the other 998's. One day it went bang and when it was striped it turned out it actually had 1098 internals  .
Some times you can't just rely on the old reliable numbers  .

Kirsten, are you going to get any head work done?

Late model 998s go great with a 1098 crank & rods in, I've got 2 of em sitting here. :P
And no need to go for a blueslip to change the engine number, then get told by Mr Twerp Inspector that sorry mate, your engine is too old for the car now. :x   as happened to me once.

There were no 30thou pistons in the country...so I had to get 40thou over.

It's being bored, and the engine balanced tomorrow so fingers crossed I get it back soon

The head has been crack tested, valve ground and surface ground. No cracks phewf.

I'm so stoked at finding out I have a bigger engine than we thought.

The feeling I guess would be the same as giving birth to 10 boys in the hope of having a girl...and in the last pregnancy finding out in the ultrasound that it's a girl.

Ok so not the best explanation, but still you catch my gist :P

No wonder Jay was a healthy but sick 998 lol. You should throw a cam in there while its all apart.

Absolutely, now's the time.. you'll regret it later if you don't. Nothing too crazy, but an 1100 can make fairly decent power with the right bits ;)
