In recent months I've been wondering if I'm turning into something of an anorak as far as mini's , and particularly Australian 850's are concerned .... So I was wondering , what type of mini owner/fan do you see yourself as ?

As long as you own one and have fun doing whatever you do with it you deserve to have one

If you have fun then thats the main thing whether you drive it everyday or trailer it to shows you probably still enjoy it. i enjoy passing camrys that keep trying to race me then backing off and watching them go over the speed limit in a mad dash to regain their man hood................... wait is that wrong

What if you're an anorak (and cuts oneself because of it) but were prepared to submit (if it was really important that you do so) to using a 29d distributor in a Mk1 Cooper S engine? Or a AUC82 where there could only be a AUC1342? Like just until you got to a mechanic?

I mean, it's not like we're splitting hairs...

I own one of each - just like capitalist swine would - I have a fairly original Deluxe and a engine swapped Clubman. I like the look of the original cars more and would love a totally original Deluxe, but the fun of turning Japanese is awesome.

Any surviving original car should IMHO be left unmolested, and as many rare classics should be restored to their orignal glory as possible. I don't have (and don't yet want) a Mini of the 'rare' variety (thinking original 850, Cooper, Cooper S, Clubby GT here) because I don't (yet) want the responsibility -- such a car should be preserved in the spirit of the original, and I'm not ready for that yet ;)

Instead, I've got a couple of "mongrels" -- cars which were modified before I owned them, and aren't considered rare in the same sense of the cars mentioned above. I don't have any qualms about modifying these..

I like to look at original minis of all models that are in showroom condition just so I know how they were back in the day. But I find it mind numbingly boring if I see anymore than three of the same model in a row.
Not that I wouldn't own a mint condition original Cooper or GT mind you.
Show me your modded minis any day, not so much your trailer Queens, but your everyday pride and joy. :D
I don't know. Maybe it just looks like more fun to own.

All minis are great 8)
I have great apperciation for original minis, that why i keep my original engines for my cars.
Also i like to see tasteful customistion/modifying because it doesnt take much to make a 50 year old mini able to beat (in ALL aspects) a modern small car, and the person driving that small car is stunned :o .
Here here to all minis :D :D :D

if cars had sexuality then all the trailer queens are just that
i dont care if their drivers are or not but minis should never be a gay car.
