Refurbishing a S/H heater 1973 model - plastic body - from a Clubman - fan works OK but when I pressure tested the heater matrix there is a pin hole putting out a fine stream.

Is it worth fixing or getting it new matrix - or would all I be buying is a reconditioned one anyway?

It's the easiest thing in the world to fix it, and the cheapest thing to have repaired by a radiator shop.

Normal electrcal solder (60/40 lead/tin) is just fine for the job if you can get enough heat into it.

Dismantle > Inspect > Repair or Replace depending on condition.

If the core is rotten it will need replacing.
If it is just a pin hole and everything is solid just solder it up.

I'm not aware of anyone who has NOS heater cores for the Mini range. If someone knows of a source please post it. Otherwise it's solder the current one, or get a radiator place to fabricate a new one ($$$ !!!).
